Mission Statement
In partnership with parents and community, district technology will focus on facilitating student learning and achievement; emphasizing teacher preparation and delivery of instruction; providing for administration, data management, and communication processes; distributing and using resources; and providing technical support. These focus areas will foster and accelerate student intellectual, physical, social, and career development in preparation for the 21st century.
This mission statement follows the technology goals as outlined in the CSIP plan and provides resources devoted to allowing students of varying needs to reach their highest potential.
1:1 Device Program:
The East Carter County R-II School District is excited about its 1to1 Device Initiative. We strongly support giving students of this school district every tool needed for the betterment of a child's education, and supports student having 24/7 access to technology both in and out of the classroom.
Student education is becoming a technology-based system, along with society, the workplace, higher education, and vocational training. We want your child to be as prepared as possible for the world they will grow into. By sending the device home, your child will be able to do research for classes as well as explore their personal interests. They will be able to work off-line (no Internet needed), and to type papers for their classes when they are away from school. Students will also be able to work on-line where wireless Internet is available through a secured and Internet filtered device. Technology has become so important for student success that the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has included technology as a learning standard for students of grades 5 through 12.
Data Governance:
Protecting our students’ and staff's privacy is an important priority and East Carter R-II Schools is committed to maintaining strong privacy and security protections. The privacy and security of this information is a significant responsibility and we value the trust of our students, parents, and staff. The District follows a comprehensive plan for securing our data that includes policies, administrative procedures, internal procedures and practices. This plan outlines how operational and instructional activity shall be carried out to ensure our data is accurate, accessible, consistent, and protected.
To accomplish the district’s mission and to comply with the law, the district may need to collect, create and store confidential information, including information regarding students, parents/guardians, employees, applicants for employment and others. The district will only do so when necessary and will take measures to keep this information confidential.
