We face the future with warm courage and high hope.

For we have the clear consciousness of seeking old and precious values.

Homes for America's future,

Homes where living will be the expression of everything that is good and fair,

Homes where truth and love and security and faith will be realities, not dreams.

We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

Hello, East Carter community! My name is Amanda Smith, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher here at East Carter County R-II. I am passionate about helping students build real-world skills that prepare them for life—whether that’s cooking and nutrition, financial literacy, child development, or exploring future career paths.

In my classroom, students are active learners. We spend our time creating, problem-solving, and connecting what we learn to everyday life. I firmly believe students learn best by doing, and I strive to give them meaningful, hands-on experiences that build confidence and independence.

I also have the privilege of advising our FCCLA chapter, where I get to work with student leaders who are excited to make a difference. Through service projects, student-led businesses, and community involvement, our students take on responsibilities that help strengthen our school and our broader community.

East Carter is a special place, and I am proud to be part of a district that values strong relationships, hard work, and student success. I look forward to continuing to grow our FACS program and supporting our students as they become capable, caring contributors to the world around them.

Thank you for welcoming me into this community—I am honored to teach your students.
